Tenure-track positions in Mathematics

 

 

The College of Engineering and Science invites applications for tenure-track positions, commencing in September 2008. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. A Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics and excellent teaching and research credentials are required. Applicants should have significant research interests in the areas of operations research, bioinformatics, applied mathematics, numerical mathematics, or statistics.

The Program of Mathematics and Statistics offers a B.S. and an M.S. degree and it is a major participant in the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Computational Analysis and Modeling. Research activity is focused on the College’s multidisciplinary centers of excellence in micromanufacturing, biotechnology and nanotechnology, trenchless technology, applied physics or information technology. Louisiana Tech is one of five nodes on a statewide supercomputing grid consisting of multiple supercomputers connected by the high-bandwidth (40 Gbps) Louisiana Optical Network, which is tied to the National Lambda Rail.  The university has access to 85 Tflops of computing power. The successful candidates will work in interdisciplinary research teams and teach Mathematics or Statistics in the college’s interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate curricula.
